Pottery
is one of the oldest art forms known to mankind. Throughout the
ages it has linked man with his environment, providing a
continuous thread connecting the past and the future. This
timeless quality of pottery is what Steven Kaye enjoys most. The
pieces in his collection are finely proportioned. Beautifully
finished, they embody a careful and studied attention to detail,
with an awareness of the sculptural qualities of the whole form.
His designs
range from delicate to bold, primitive to contemporary; always
with an intriguing interplay of color and texture. Kaye's work
also bears the influence of the long heritage of pottery
indigenous to Southwest region. His surfaces are dawn from a
rich spectrum of color. They complement the vitality and beauty
of the desert landscape, thus giving his work a relaxed, yet
elegant contemporary feeling. Steven Kaye's work has been
equally appreciated in corporate settings and fine homes
worldwide.
Steven has been a professional potter for more than 20 years,
earning his degree B.A. Degree in Fine Arts, at the State
University of Fredonia, New York in 1977. After his move to the
southwest in 1984, he established his studio in Arizona where
today he continues to create his unique one-of-a kind pottery.
